Phyllobates lugubris
Taxonomy and Biology Adult length: 18mm Description Head dorsum, dorsal surface body and flank colour is black with a pair of usually narrow, bright orange ( sometimes yellowish ), dorsolateral stripes that commence on the snout ( usually continuous around the snout ), pass over the eyes and extend to the posterior body. A white to bluish stripe usually extends from the lower lip margin to the base of the arm. Arms are usually yellow or yellowish green with irregular black r mottling. Hind legs are mottled yellow to yellowish green and black. Head venter is mainly black with some yellow or yellowish green mottling. Ventral body surface is white to blue mottled with black. Habitat Lowland humid rainforest up to an elevation of about 700 metres. Habits Diurnal and terrestrial frog. Prey Feeds mainly on ants.
