Dendrobates opisthomelas
Taxonomy and Biology Adult length: 14.5mm Description Head and body dorsum and flanks are orange red to red sometimes with a suffusion of brown. Arms and legs are brownish red or red with some suffusion of brown. Head venter is red. Ventral surface body colour is dark brown or chocolate brown with or without red spotting. Habitat Wet montane forest and cloud forest at elevations between about 1000 and 2400 metres. Habits Diurnal and terrestrial frog that tends to inhabit the leaf litter and also found in bromeliads up to about 2 or 3 metres above ground. Prey Feeds mainly on ants and mites.
