Taxonomy and Biology

Adult length: 17mm

Description

Head dorsum, dorsal surface body and flank colour is black with 5 narrow, pale green to pale blue longitudinal stripes. The vertebral stripe usually commences anterior to the eyes and extends the entire length of the body. The dorsolateral stripes commence on the snout ( usually continuous ) pass over the eyes and extend the length of the body. The lower flank stripe ( often white or yellowish anteriorly ) is often more irregular and commences on the throat and usually passes over the base of the arms and legs ). Head venter and throat is mainly yellow with some black spotting. Ventral surface colour is white to pale blue ( greenish or yellowish ) with irregular black spotting. Arms and legs are dull orange, orange brown or dirty orange with scattered, rounded black spots and a bright gold to bright orange or reddish orange blotch or flash mark at the base of each arm and hind leg.

Habitat

Lowland rainforest.

Habits

Diurnal and terrestrial frog that inhabits the forest floor leaf litter.
