Taxonomy and Biology

Adult length: 19mm

Description

Dorsal surface of head and body is bright orange to red without spotting. Lower anterior flanks and posterior flanks are green to bluish green ( very occasionally yellowish green ). Upper arm is bright orange or bright red with the lower arm, hind legs, fingers and toes green to bluish green. Head venter and ventral surface body colour is green to bluish green. Males have a black vocal patch.

Habitat

Lowland primary forest up to an elevation of about 700 metres with seasonally wet and drier seasons.

Habits

Diurnal and mainly terrestrial frog that is often found amongst leaf litter or up to about 2 metres in trees.

Prey

Feeds mainly on ants and mites
