Dendrobates fantasticus
Taxonomy and Biology Adult length: 15mm Description Head dorsum and head laterally is golden yellow orange or reddish orange with a pair of black spots ( which may be fused to form a single marking ) between the eyes and with or without a black spot posterior to the eyes on the side of the head. The anterior body dorsum is yellowish orange with posterior half of the dorsum and flanks mainly black with irregular, large, black spots or blotches separated by narrow, irregular, white to yellowish lines. Arms and legs are reticulated with black spots and white to blue lines. Head venter and throat is yellow or orange with or without a pair of large black spots on the throat. Ventral body surface is covered with irregular black spots separated by white to blue irregular lines. Habitat Elevations of between about 500 and 800 metres in tropical rainforest. Habits Diurnal and mainly arboreal frog found amongst bromeliads and tall trees. Prey No information available Poison Activity Poison Type: No information available
