Taxonomy and Biology

Adult length: 18mm

Description

Head and body dorsum is black with small, scattered white spots often appearing as remnants of a vertebral and dorsolateral line or stripe. Flanks are black with or without a few white spots. Arms are black with a large, bright orange spot at the base of the arm and with or without a few smaller white spots. Hind legs are black with a pair of large, bright orange spots ( located on thigh and shin ) which often appear as one spot when the legs are folded and a bright orange spot on the calf. Head venter throat and ventral body surface colour is black with some white spotting or mottling.

Habitat

Humid lowland primary rainforest.

Habits

Diurnal and terrestrial frog that inhabits the forest floor leaf litter and small shrubs up to about 2 metres above ground level.
