The Department, in association with the University of Adelaide, runs "Clinical
Toxinology Short Courses", which are taylored for specific needs. Currently
there is an Australian course and an International course. The latter covers
venomous and poisonous animals, poisonous plants and mushrooms worldwide and
course registrants come from all parts of the World, including North & South
America, Africa, Europe and Asia. The faculty for the courses is drawn from
experts in various areas of toxinology from around the World, with an emphasis
on clinicians used to treating cases of toxin-injury, such as snakebite.
The following courses covering various aspects of toxinology are available.

A 6 day intensive course offered by the University
of Adelaide and coordinated by the Toxinology Department, Women's and Children's
Hospital.
Time of course varies each year. At present courses are only offered alternate
years (past courses offered in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2008). In general
for medical graduates only, but in special circumstances exceptions may be
made. International in scope, but with greatest emphasis on Australian animals
and injuries (Australian Course). Emphasis on practical clinical issues.
