Cardiotoxicity

Cardotoxic effects of snakebite are primary in only a few species, but may occur secondarilly after bites by many species, varying from mild arrythmias to cardiac arrest. Severe myolysis, particularly when associated with secondary renal failure, may result in severe hyperkalaemia, with consequent and sometimes lethal effects, as seen with other causes of hyperkalaemia.
