Taxonomy and Biology

Adult length: 16mm

Description

Head dorsum and dorsal surface body colour is bright red. Flanks are black and sharply defined from the red dorsum. Traces of a yellow stripe from the lip margin to the base of the arm is present in the form of broken yellow line and traces of a blue, lower lateral flank stripe from mid body to the groin is present in the form of broken blue line. Arms are yellowish brown to brown with black spotting. Hind legs are black with blue spotting or mottling and bright red on the upper thigh. Fingers and toes are mainly brown with some scattered black spotting. Head venter and throat is black or brown with some blue spotting. Ventral body surface is brown with blue spotting and marbling.

Habitat

Lowland rainforest up to an elevation of about 500 metres.

Habits

Diurnal and terrestrial frog that inhabits the forest floor leaf litter.
