Taxonomy and Biology

Adult length: 32mm

Description

Colour and pattern is quite variable. Head dorsum, dorsal body surface and flanks are usually black usually with a yellow, yellowish green or green vertebral stripe that commences on the snout and extends to the posterior body ( entirely absent or broken into spots in some specimens ), a yellow, yellowish green or green dorsolateral stripe that commences on the snout ( usually continuous around the snout ) that passes over the eyes and extends to the groin and a yellow, yellowish green or green lower lateral stripe that commences anterior to, or beneath the eye at the lower lip margin and extends to the arm ( and often continues dorsally along the length of the arm ). A yellow, yellowish green or green lower lateral, oblique stripe may also be present that extends from posterior to the arm to the groin. Arms and hind legs are usually green or greenish brown with some black black spotting or black with yellow to green striping. Head venter and throat is usually black with some green or bluish green spots. Ventral surface colour is usually black with large, irregular green to bluish spots.

Habitat

Lowland humid rainforest up to an elevation of about 700 metres.

Diurnal and terrestrial frog.
