Adult length: 18mm

Description

Head dorsum and dorsal body surface is dark brown with pale brown marbling, with or without some yellow dorsal spots arranged in two rows ( sometimes fused to form broad stripes ). Flanks are black. Two pale yellowish to yellow dorsolateral stripes extend from the tip of the snout to the groin and a white to yellowish lower lateral stripe commences on the upper lip ( below the nostril ) and extends to the axillae. The dorsolateral stripes become large orange to reddish orange flash marks on the upper and lower surfaces of thighs. Orange or reddish orange flash markings are also present basally on the ventral surface of the tibiae and behind axillae. Dorsal surface of limbs are brown with dark brown, transverse irregular stripes that continue onto fingers and toes. Ventral surface of limbs are pale brown with some dark brown to black spotting. Head venter and throat is brown. Ventral body surface is brown with scattered small black spots most frequent or concentrated ventrolaterally.

Habitat

Lowland rainforest and extending into cerrado ( savanna-like ) vegetation.

Habits

Terrestrial and diurnal frog found amongst leaf litter.

Prey

Feeds mainly on ants and other small insects.
