Epipedobates cainarachi
Taxonomy and Biology Adult length: 20mm Description Head dorsum and dorsal surface body colour is brick red to dark red with black pigment between granules. Flanks are black with a bright yellow stripe commencing from the nostril ( more orange and barely distinct anterior to the eye ), passing over the eye and extending to the groin and a white to yellow oblique stripe commencing on the upper lip margin anterior to the eye and extending to the base of the arm. Arms and legs are mainly brown to black with some reddish mottling and bright yellow flash marks on the upper arm and hind legs. Fingers and toes are blackish brown to black with blue flecking or spotting. Head venter and throat is mainly black with some bright blue spotting. Ventral body surface is bright blue with black mottling. Habitat Elevation between about 400 and 800 metres in undisturbed rainforest. Habits Diurnal and mainly terrestrial frog.
