Taxonomy and Biology

Adult length: 20mm

Description

Head dorsum and dorsal surface body colour is dark brown, blackish brown to black with an indistinct brown or bronze brown stripe commencing on the snout ( continuous around the snout ), passing over the eyes and extending to the posterior body. Flanks are dark grey to black. Arms are mainly dark brown with some black spotting and a bright reddish orange to red flash marking on the upper arm. Hind legs are yellowish brown, olive brown or dark brown with irregular black banding. Head venter and throat is blackish brown to black with some scattered blue spots. Ventral body surface is black with pale blue mottling.

Habitat

Dense, mainly closed canopy rainforest in moderately steep terrain with bamboo and secondary growth regions.

Habits

Diurnal and terrestrial frog.

Prey

Feeds mainly on ants.
